Hopefully, no one will confuse this with the other thread. ;D
I already said my thoughts on my livejournal, so I'll just repeat them all here, in the order I posted them there.
Entry 1:
I liked that Fleur and Bill were getting married, or at the very least didn't mind it, because when Fleur came in I was in OMFG A K3R|K73R I KNO!!1 mode.
The first chapter was boring. The second made me apprehensive. But I didn't mind terribly. I was used to unfamiliar unHarry first chapters after book 4.
Okay, that part after the feast when Dumbledore said Slughorn was the new potions professor and Snape was the new DADA professor? I put my book down and laughed out loud.
I love you, Minerva McGonagall. I mean, you were so awesome in book five, but.... be my aunt. Or grandmother, possibly.
And I love Merope too. Aw, she's so cute.
Oh! And Luna! Luna better be getting some action. Preferably from Neville or Ginny. Even more preferably from both.
Dammit Harry! You can go getting me interested in the first het pairing I've ever been interested in in this universe and then drop it! And Ron and Hermione, would you two snog already? The sexual tension's so thick you could cut it with a knife!
Bah. Remus/Sirius is still canon. But I'll have to accept that Sirius is ded and Remus might want to move on. Also, the only thing that made me like Remus/Tonks-disguising-herself-as-Sirius was that it gave Tonks something. Now I can say, "In Half-Blood Prince, there was Tonks... she... um... oh! She hooked up with Remus." I'm not sure where, when, or why I'd say that, but who cares.
This is the first time I have ever seen canonical evidence of Harry/Draco. And if Draco doesn't at least consider going to the "right side" (at the first I was confused at this. Dumbledore's a republican?) in book 7, I am going to ignore canon!Draco. He will no longer exist to me.
Now. Snape killed Dumbledore. My theory? Snape's a double agent. I can't bear the thought of him being completely with the bad guys, but I am forced to admit that he probably hasn't successfully deflected from the death eaters. So I'm guessing he's doing both. If he's *just* with the death eaters, I'm abandoning canon!Snape as well. I mean, at the end of book 1... it was so fascinating to have a character who was so obviously ebul, yet they turned out to be one the good guys. If it turns out that Snape has a bad guy exterior with a bad guy interior, that will elicit a "Oh, come on!" from me. He better fucking redeem himself. Now, as to why he did it. I bet it was the Unbreakable Vow. Those death eaters looked like they might've done something nasty if Draco had hesitated any longer. So Snape did the job for him, letting him off the hook.
By the way, and I'm not talking to Lord Voldemort, Tom Marvolo Riddle, plz have my babiez. K thx bye.
Entry 2:
I've been reading HBP spoilers in other livejournals, and I must say I agree with the Dumbledore told Snape to kill him theory.
The more I think about it, the more I think Lupin/Tonks was forced.
Oh, and I bet R.A.B. isn't Regulus Black because that's so damn obvious. (Edit- I'm wrong.)
Entry 3:
"I need to see what Draco Malfoy is doing inside you." -Harry Potter, HBP
Okay, J.K. Rowling, now you're just teasing us.
And he was becoming obsessed with him. And Draco was crying like the little blond bitch he is. And he was a death eater in training. And he was starting to waver near the end. Hold on. I forgot whether I was talking about the book or a fanfiction. Either J.K's been reading too many fics, or the fic authors are really good guessers.
On a similar note, Harry <3ing Ginny- soooo unrealistic, but it was pretty cute once it was there.
Entry 4:
As soon as I first saw the it-was-planned theories (you know what I'm referring to), I believed them. But after thinking about it, I kinda hope it's wrong. If Snape was actually evil and killed Dumbledore on Voldie's orders, that will leave me thoroughly embittered, unfulfilled, and disappointed. But consider the alternative; the rather popular theory: that he did it on Dumbledore's orders. That is degoddamnpressing. At least if Snape's evil, he has the death eaters. But if not, then now the Order hates him, and he hates the Death Eaters. That must suck. Right now I suspect the only person who doesn't apply to either category is Draco and that I am very unsure of.
IWO, my desire to see bad-guy-like characters with more than two dimensions is battling with my sympathetic side.
Entry 5:
Why do I think Snape is good/still with the Order? Because of the job he got- proffing DADA. We all know that it is a very doomy position. By the end of the year, every teacher is gone. Dead, memory lost, chased off by centaurs, whatever. Dumbledore would only give Snape that job if either Snape was going to be gone from the school by the end of the year anyway, or to make sure he *was* rid of Snape- but why wait that long?
Let's look at it from both perspectives, the Snape is evil and working for Voldemort theory, and the Snape is good and working for Dumbledore theory. I'm going to ignore all other theories for now, such as Snape is morally ambiguous and working for himself, or Snape is whatever else who's working for some other person, or there's an imposter Snape wandering about, because I'm lazy, and darn it, figuring out this much with just two perspectives was hard enough. On with the perspectives.
1. Snape is evil and working for Voldemort.
Now, sub perspectives. a. Dumbledore knew (about the Draco having to kill him plan and Snape's vow) because someone who was not Snape told him. b. Dumbledore knew because Snape told him. c. Dumbledore knew not. d. Dumbeldore knew through legilimens.
Well, if perspective 1 is correct, then I can automatically say sub perspective 2 is wrong wrong wrong, and sub perspective 1 is wrong in either case.
If Dumbledore heard it from someone, it would have to be a DE (or from someone who heard from a DE, ad infinitum) but why the crap would the DEs go about gossiping about such a major thing? And if Snape really is evil, why would he give Dumbledore this warning?
So let's pretend Dumbledore has no idea that Draco has to kill him and if can't, Snape will. In this case, as far he knows, Snape is still a good guy/on their side, so why give him that dangerous job? I seriously doubt Snape is expendable to the Order. There's probably not many death eater spies.
So let's pretend Dumbledore learned it from Snape by looking into his mind. Well, then he didn't exactly do much to protect himself. As I was typing this, I thought, why isn't both ways? Why isn't it that Dumbledore "wants" to die, and that Snape is evil? Then I remembered, the point (or at least one of the points) of Dumbledore allowing Snape to kill him was to save himself and Draco, but what would be the point in that if Snape was evil? As I was typing that thought, I thought hold up! What if Snape is evil but Dumbledore thinks he's good? Then I realized that messed with the Dumbledore-wouldn't-give-someone-on-his-side-such-a-doomy-job theory. Then I realized I needed to go to perspective two before my brain broke.
Perspective two. Snape is good and with the Order. Same sub perspectives as before. Well, like I stated before, I can dismiss sub perspective one, and I can also dismiss sub perspective three for the same reason as before.
I think that, assuming Snape's with the order, he'd tell Dumbledore such a major and crucial detail. Unless maybe there was a curse attached to it, like if he told, he'd spontaneously combust or something. IDK. In either case, this is where it finally makes sense.
Snape: They want Malfoy to kill you! And Narcissa wants me to do it if he can't!
Dumbledore: Okay.
Snape: Okay what?
Dumbledore: Okay kill me.
Snape: WTF I'm trying to get you not killed.
Dumbledore: No, no, it's a good idea. See, if you kill me, Draco won't have to, and you both live. Yay.
Snape: Grr. Argh.
Entry 6: (mocking Harry)
"R.A.B.? I don't know of anyone with a first name starting with R and last name starting with B, especially anyone with death eater connections."
"OMFG Tonks ru in loff w/ ur cuzzin!?"
"Oh em gee an obviously evul spell judging by the to be used on enemies warning! LET'S TRY IT OUT!"
